Thomas Barclay to John Adams

12 Sep. 1785

Dear Sir Paris 12 Sep. 1785.

Inclos’d is Copy of a letter which I wrote this day to Mr Jay, upon which you will have the goodness to give him your opinion. I wish I could have consulted you, before I sent the letter away but that was impracticable because I thought it necessary not to lose the opportunity of the Vessell that carries it

I heartily congratulate you and Mrs. Adams on the arrival of the May Packet in America and am sorry to be oblig’d to add that the Algerines have Captured five of our Vessels some of which with their Cargoes and People were advertis’d at Algiers for Pub. Sale.

I am with the greatest Esteem & Respect / Sir / Your most Obed hble S.

Thos Barclay
