the Marquis of Carmarthen to John Adams

14 Sep. 1785

St. James’s, Septr. 14. 1785.

Lord Carmarthen presents his Compliments to Mr. Adams, and thinking that if the Conference Day was put off to the 22d. instant (being the Anniversary of the King’s Coronation, and Her Majesty’s next Drawing Room Day) it could not but be agreeable to the Foreign Ministers, Lord Carmarthen has the Honour to propose to Mr. Adams to receive him on that Day, instead of To-morrow.
