John Adams to the Marquis de Lafayette

25 Sep. 1785

Dear Sir Grosvenor Square Septr. 25. 1785.

Mr Thomas Boylston, the Bearer of this Letter is one of the ablest Merchants ever bred in America. He is very desirous of doing Some Service to his native Country, by introducing the Knowledge and Use of our white Sperma Cæti oil, into France. Will you be so good as to introduce him to Monsieur Tourtille Sangrain. His Fortune and his Judgment is equal to any Thing he may propose relative to this Subject.
