I received in due season the Letter you did me the Honour to write me on the 11th of October, and am happy to Learn that you have received the Ratification of the Treaty on the Part of His Majesty the King of Prussia

I wish it were in my power to inform you in return that the ratification on the part of the United states was received: but although this is impossible, yet as the Treaty is already gone in the French packett to America we may expect to receive the Ratification in three Months. as soon as it arrives, you will be made acquainted with it either by Mr Jefferson or me, and then we may proceed to the Exchange in such a manner as may be agreed upon as most convenient to both parties.
