| My dear Sister | Sunday morning Apl. 23d. 1797. |
I am sorry for your Affliction in the Loss of your good Mother, but
at the same time must look upon her Departure as attended with the most alleviating
circumstance of having so easy a dismission from a State of weakness and infirmity to
the Rewards of Virtue in a better State. As to the supply of the Pulpit to day, I can
only inform you that Mr. Whitney promised me my
by his Letter that he should preach for us this Sabbath, but is not yet come. I have
enclosed Mr. Black’s Order which he desires you to endorse
and return to the Collector, who will thereupon discharge that Sum on his Bill against
you.
I am, with great obligation, yours most affectionately
Richard Cranch
