My very dear friend, Mrs. Adams, will
not only accept my sincerest thanks for her obliging invitation, but also for the regret
she so kindly express’d at my not being able to comply with it—The regret was mutual as
it would have afforded me the highest gratification—My Brother did not return from his
journey till the evening before I just saw him but had not an opportunity of speaking to
him on the subject—suppos’d they would go in their own Chaise, & did not wish to
put any one to trouble on my account—my heart was with with you & was
glad that my friends had so fine a day—My respectful regards attend the President
& with every wish for your happiness—that peace & prosperity may attend
you wherever you reside is the hearty wish of / Your very obligd friend
