From James Madison to Robert Patterson, 19 February 1806

Sir, Department of State Feby. 19th. 1806

I request that you will permit the Purveyor of Public supplies, from time to time, to make use of the Machinery of the Mint, for impressing the public dies in his hands, in such manner however as not inconveniently to obstruct the operations of the Mint. I am, Sir, with much respect Your Obt. Serv.

James Madison.
