From John Adams to United States Senate

Gentlemen of the Senate, United States December 4. 1799.

I nominate John Hall of Pennsylvania to be Marshal of that district, in the room of William Nicholls resigned: and

David Mead Randolph, the present marshal of the district of Virginia, for the term of four years, to commence on the fifteenth instant, when his existing commission will expire.
