From John Adams to Samuel Dexter

Inclosed is a letter from Gen. Knox recommending Jonathan Williams Esqr to some appointment. Mr. McHenry once thought of appointing him a Major of Artillery. Mr. Williams has abilities for many sorts of useful service & I recommend him to be placed on your list of candidates.
