| My Dear Norton, | New York, Feb 23d [1866] |
It is hard to resist your kindness and I want to see you now more than I can tell, but my business engagements are such that I do not feel at liberty to be away from New York as long as would be necessary if I should make you a visit.
We have had the measles in the family and all the children are unwell and require more than usual attention, so that if I were otherwise free I could hardly leave home at present.
[83Please give Mrs Olmsted’s kind regards and thanks with mine to Mrs Norton and your mother and sisters.
Godkin and I have an engagement with Lowell today. How fortunate it is for us that he is here at this juncture!
Fred. Law Olmsted.
