| J. Baxter Upham Eqr The Rockingham. Fifth Ave. N. York. Dear Sir, |
19th Decr 1894. |
I thank you for the favor of your note of 17th inst.
It is a sad thing, that, in view of the general public satisfaction with the results of the work in which Mr Vaux has been engaged for the people of New York during the last thirty four years, he can be treated as he has been in the Speedway matter without exciting more general indignation. Your note is but one of many indications that there is really a good deal more feeling about it than obtains public expression but that it is not manifested publicly and that the park commissioners can be as well satisfied with their course as they are, does not promise well for the future of New York.
I am very Truly Yours
Fredk Law Olmsted.
